چکیده

Soares [J. Graph Theory 1992] showed that the well known upper bound 3 δ+1n+ O(1) on the diameter of undirected graphs of order n and minimum degree δ also holds for digraphs, provided they are eulerian. In this paper we investigate if similar bounds can be given for digraphs that are, in some sense, close to being eulerian. In particular we show that a directed graph of order n and minimum degree δ whose arc set can be partitioned into s trails, where s 6 δ − 2, has diameter at most 3(δ +1− s 3) −1n+O(1). If s also divides δ − 2, then we show the diameter to be at most 3(δ+1− (δ−2)s 3(δ−2)+s ) −1n+O(1). The latter bound is sharp, apart from an additive constant. As a corollary we obtain the sharp upper bound 3(δ+1− δ−2 3δ−5 ) −1n+O(1) on the diameter of digraphs that have an eulerian trail.

0n removable cycles in graphs and digraphs

In this paper we define the removable cycle that, if $Im$ is a class of graphs, $Gin Im$, the cycle $C$ in $G$ is called removable if $G-E(C)in Im$. The removable cycles in Eulerian graphs have been studied. We characterize Eulerian graphs which contain two edge-disjoint removable cycles, and the necessary and sufficient conditions for Eulerian graph to have removable cycles h...

Nonexistence of Almost Moore Digraphs of Diameter Four

Regular digraphs of degree d > 1, diameter k > 1 and order N(d, k) = d+· · ·+dk will be called almost Moore (d, k)-digraphs. So far, the problem of their existence has only been solved when d = 2, 3 or k = 2, 3. In this paper we prove that almost Moore digraphs of diameter 4 do not exist for any degree d.

Suppose A(R, S) ]”. The interchange graph G(R, S) of A(R, S) was defined by Brualdi in 1980. It is the graph with all matrices in A(R, S) as its vertices and two matrices are adjacent provided they differ by ...

Subdigraphs of almost Moore digraphs induced by fixpoints of an automorphism

The degree/diameter problem for directed graphs is the problem of determining the largest possible order for a digraph with given maximum outdegree d and diameter k. An upper bound is given by the Moore bound M(d, k) = ∑k i=0 d i and almost Moore digraphs are digraphs with maximum out-degree d, diameter k and order M(d, k)− 1. In this paper we will look at the structure of subdigraphs of almost...
